If you’re looking for a fun party atmosphere with plenty of live music in the Four Corners, Tico Time River Resort is the place for you! This Costa Rica-themed camping and RV resort on the Animas River between Durango, Colorado, and Aztec, New Mexico, hosts exciting events like the Rise and Vibes Music Festival and the Tico Time Bluegrass Festival. This resort is like no other . . . let’s find out why!
Tico Time River Resort
Tico Time River Resort goes well beyond offering the basics that campers and RVers expect, like water and electrical hook-ups and perhaps a pool or recreation room. This river-front resort encompasses 82 acres and makes great use of its location to allow visitors to experience paddle-boarding, kayaking, a water slide, beach volleyball, and swimming, plus a zipline that gives you a bird’s-eye view of all the action. The resort also offers yoga sessions.
Tico Time Bluegrass Festival
Just a few days later, May 17 – 19, 2024, bluegrass takes the stage for the fourth year at the Tico Time Bluegrass Festival. Not familiar with bluegrass? This is true American music with roots in the 1940s, featuring stringed instruments and hitting on the backbeat. Think fiddle, banjo, guitar, mandolin, and some harmonica and you’ve got bluegrass.
The Tico Time Bluegrass Festival features more than two dozen acts with a wide range of bluegrass, roots, and Americana performers, from newer groups to well-known acts such as Railroad Earth, Elephant Revival, Kitchen Dwellers, and the Lil Smokies.
The bluegrass festival includes all the fun and excitement you’ll find at the Rise and Vibes Music Festival, plus fire spinning and live art programs. Both festivals are family friendly and have a zero waste, leave-no-trace policy.
Rise and Vibes Music Festival
Fans of reggae music should mark May 10 – 12, 2024, on their calendars and get their tickets now so they don’t miss the Rise and Vibes Music Festival. This three-day event includes a music lineup with performers such as Steel Pulse, Beats Antique, Tribal Seeds, Elovaters, and J Boog. Your ticket includes walk-in camping and lots of resort activities, such as kayaking, paddle boarding, and beach volleyball. You can upgrade your ticket for an RV site or early entry. There will be vendors on site with food, drinks, and crafts as well as morning yoga and presentations about reggae.
The festival began in 2017 and has built a stellar reputation for being inclusive and fostering up-and-coming talent while attracting stars of the reggae world. The line-up includes 21 acts, so there’s something for everyone.

Why Tico Time and Why Costa Rica?
The residents of Costa Rica call themselves “ticos” and their laid-back, “pura vida” attitude inspired the relaxed and fun vibe at Tico Time River Resort. Life is to enjoy and there’s no rush! So, indulge yourself in Tico Time.
Live Music in the Four Corners
Tico Time River Resort takes the celebration of all things fun a step further by hosting two music festivals. With its location in the stunning Animas River Valley in Northern New Mexico just south of the Colorado border and not far from Arizona and Utah, these New Mexico music festivals are accessible to music lovers from around the region. Since it’s practically a stone’s throw to Colorado from Tico Time River Resort, you could consider these to be Colorado music festivals, too.
With walk-in camping included and RV camping available as an upgrade, it’s easy to make attending one (or both!) of these festivals a great way to start your summer with some unforgettable moments.
