The Powerhouse Community Concert Series runs every Wednesday from June 3 to August 5, 2026, at the Carver Family Plaza in Durango.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with live music from 6–8 p.m., and every ticket sold supports The Powerhouse and a rotating local nonprofit partner.

Presented by Visit Durango and Carver Brewing Company, and sponsored in part by Hutton Broadcasting, the series provides a platform for emerging artists while supporting a different local nonprofit through ticket sales each week.

What is the Powerhouse Community Concert Series?

More than just entertainment, the Community Concert Series serves as a fundraiser that supports The Powerhouse and a different local nonprofit each week. These outdoor concerts create meaningful connections between music lovers, local organizations, and emerging artists, fostering music philanthropy and grassroots fundraising throughout the summer concert season.

Each performance brings together community members, local business sponsors, and music lovers to support meaningful causes while enjoying live music in a welcoming, family-friendly setting.

Supporting Local Community Through Music

Concerts support The Powerhouse’s educational programming as well as a different local nonprofit partner each week. Every ticket contributes to causes like STEAM education, environmental stewardship, and social equity in the Four Corners region.

Safety Meeting

  • Date: June 3, 2026
  • Genre: Jazz, jam, funk, R&B, and folk fusion
  • Proceeds benefiting: 4CORE

Safety Meeting delivers a towering sound that remains rhythmically precise and expressive. Expect a live performance defined by ambient textures and improvisational skill. The ensemble moves through ambient textures and spontaneous jams to create a sound that stands apart.

The Badly Bent 

  • Date: June 10, 2026
  • Genre: Bluegrass
  • Proceeds benefiting: Manna

The Badly Bent performs a polished take on the bluegrass genre. Winners of the 2005 Telluride Bluegrass Band Competition, the quintet has spent decades performing at national festivals, building a reputation for instrumental precision and a deep connection to the genre’s origins. While they occasionally pull an unexpected cover, the band stays true to a classic, acoustic sound rather than drifting into extended jams. 

Mojo Birds

Mojo Birds brings a spirited sound to the stage, mixing groove-driven Americana and roots rock with Afro-Peruvian soul.

Fresh off the January 2026 release of their debut album, the band captures a live-in-studio vibe that has quickly made them a staple of the regional music scene.

La La Bones

  • Date: June 24, 2026
  • Genre: Bluegrass, pop, punk
  • Proceeds benefiting: Seed Studio

La La Bones puts a driving spin on the bluegrass tradition by integrating influences from bluegrass, punk, and pop into their original compositions. The quintet’s sound shifts away from the expected with eclectic songwriting from every member. Witness a technical and fast-paced performance that highlights their collective vocal skills and multi-genre roots.

The Poppletons

The Poppletons bring a DIY ethos with a sound leaning into upbeat, melodic pop and experimental, psychedelic-leaning jams. The band focuses on fluid live performances and dreamy, drifting guitar work. 

Dana Ariel & The Comin’ Up Roses 

Dana Ariel weaves her bluegrass roots with a formal songwriting background and global folk traditions. Ariel developed a style that pairs atmospheric vocals with captivating storytelling. She delivers sets that are both grounded in the outdoors and technically refined.

Petrichor 

  • Date: July 15, 2026
  • Genre: Funk, soul, R&B, and blues
  • Proceeds benefiting: Durango Nordic Ski

Petrichor’s quartet brings a groove-heavy, echoing storage-shed sound crafted by informal sessions in their genesis. The set beautifies dense, rhythmic jams that highlight a tight technical connection between the members. 

Carute Roma 

Carute Roma brings a driving mix of classic Roma traditions and original compositions to the stage. Their sound features a melodic front line of fiddle, accordion, and trumpet, supported by a rhythmic foundation of guitar, bass, and drums. Led by vocal harmonies performed in six different languages, the ensemble delivers a diverse and fast-paced performance that spans cultures and generations moving audiences to dance to a spirited, multicultural repertoire. 

Ora

ORA delivers a gritty mix of swirling psychedelia and heavy desert blues defined by fuzz-drenched riffs and soaring melodies. Hear a propulsive, garage-influenced sound that leans heavily into technical precision and raw, distorted energy.

Hotel Draw 

  • Date: August 5, 2026
  • Genre: Rock ‘n’ Roll, country, garage
  • Proceeds benefiting: Durango Montessori

The 2026 Powerhouse Concert Series concludes with Hotel Draw, bringing a straight-up rock ’n’ roll sound that blends a rough-around-the-edges set built on a foundation of long-term friendship and a shared focus on the cathartic release of making music. The group prioritizes honest, ego-free songwriting and technical chemistry over the typical industry grind. 

Will food and drinks be available at the Powerhouse Concert Series?

Yes, you can buy food and drinks from The Crazy Coop (chicken, sandwiches, and salads) for most concert dates or the Pupusería Torogoz (authentic Salvadoran cuisine) on June 3 and June 10. You can also buy craft beer, wine, and cocktails from Carver Brewing Co. in the Carver Family Plaza.

Will food and refreshments be available on-site?

Attendees can buy a variety of local food and drink options within the Carver Family Plaza. Pupusería Torogoz provides authentic Salvadoran dishes on June 3 and 10. You can order chicken, sandwiches, and salads from The Crazy Coop food truck on all other concert dates.  Carver Brewing Company serves a selection of craft beers, wines, and cocktails in the plaza. Supporting these vendors further integrates the local business community into the festival atmosphere.

What should I bring to the Carver Family Plaza?

To ensure a comfortable experience on the riverfront plaza, guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets for seating. While digital payments are often accepted, having cash on hand is helpful for certain food and beverage purchases. Photography is highly encouraged, so feel free to bring cameras to capture the evening. For the safety and comfort of all guests, please leave personal grills and glass containers at home.

How can I buy tickets or season passes?

Tickets can be bought in advance through the official Powerhouse website at powsci.org or in person at the center located at 1333 Camino del Rio. Individual adult general admission tickets cost $15 in advance or $17 at the gate. For frequent attendees, the $125 Season Pass offers the best value, granting access to all 10 performances. The Powerhouse Concert Series also offers a Family Season pass for $250, permitting two adults and any number of children access to every concert. Tickets and family packages are also available at the gate starting at 5:30 p.m. each Wednesday, though purchasing in advance is recommended for popular dates.
