KVFC Cortez News Talk
KVFC (AM740 & 92.3FM) traces its origins to 1955, when regional broadcast pioneer Jack Hawkins teamed up with Barney Hubbs to construct a new station for Cortez and southwestern Colorado. Early highlights of the station included local news, children’s storytime programming with “Aunt Dottie” (Dottie Wayt), and popular music of the time. The station call letters originate from the early slogan for the station, “The Voice of the Four Corners”, and today, KVFC continues in that spirit, broadcasting from the studio located on the street that was named after Jack Hawkins. With its two frequencies and popular 24/7 stream, KVFC is southwestern Colorado’s news & talk authority, featuring local news, weather, business, agriculture and sports programming. With its top-notch format and lineup, and its rich history, KVFC is positioned for providing quality news-talk programming for many years to come.
