A Colorado Native growing up in Arvada, Jack wanted to attend a smaller college and Fort Lewis College filled all the criteria. Graduating with a degree in English Communications, Jack was offered the morning drive DJ position at KDGO radio. After his morning radio shift he conducted advertising sales calls to local businesses. Jack was the founder and owner for 10 years of Aiko Aiko Sound, a mobile DJ business. With media in his blood, he took on an account manager position at KREZ-TV, the local CBS affiliate. After 12 years, he was promoted to station manager overseeing 18 employees consisting of sales, news, production and engineering departments.
Then Jack returned to radio at Clear Channel as the Sales Manager. Shy of one year later, Fort Lewis College opened the doors and Jack became the Director of Athletic Development, or “the fundraising guy.” The thrill of collegiate competition and obtaining support for scholarships kept his life busy for just over 7 years. In 2007 Jack’s diverse background and community involvement landed him as the CEO of the Durango Chamber of Commerce. His love of Durango and helping businesses market and grow suit this position well. Jack was a former co-owner of Durango Olive Oil Company.
Jack was passionate about watching Avery, his son, play football (kicker and punter) at Colorado School of Mines, Avery is now working for Liberty Oil Field Services an oil and gas production company out of Denver. Jack has two step-sons, Blake Morris, US Coast Guard helicopter pilot stationed in Mobile AL, and John Morris graduate from Johnson and Wales and is living in Silverton working at Citizens Bank and substitute teaching.
Jack previously coached soccer, involved in scouts, crime stoppers, and an advocate for Durango. Jack was inducted into the Fort Lewis College Athletic Hall of Fame on October 15, 2017. His contributions to FLC has earned him this distinct honor.
